Efe Ambrose has been dropped from Celtic’s Champions League play-off squad ahead of their clash against Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
Brendan Rodgers can make changes to the squad until 11pm the night before the first leg, and has dropped the Nigerian defender in favour of his latest signing Dorus de Vries.
The 35-year-old Dutch ‘keeper has been added to the squad under the competitions wildcard regulations, as reported by STV.
He signed from Nottingham Forrest for a nominal fee on a two-year deal and played under Rodgers at Swansea during their promotion season to the Premier League.
De Vries is still out injured with an ankle injury he sustained during the opening weekend of the championship against Burton Albion, but could be fit for next Tuesday’s return leg in Israel.

Ambrose hasn’t played for Celtic since the first leg against Astana, and the addition of Kolo Toure, as well as the return of Erik Sviatchenko and Dedryck Boyata from injury, will only limit his chances further.
The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract and only made the substitutes bench on Saturday in a second-string Hoops squad that faced Inter Milan.
With Ambrose now out of Celtic’s 23-man squad, his future at Paradise will remain in doubt in the final two weeks of the transfer window.
