Celtic made late enquiry about Scotland midfielder

Celtic made a late enquiry about the availability of West Brom midfielder James Morrison, according to Paul Suart of the Birmingham Mail.

Celtic apparently made the enquiry very late on deadline day, but West Brom promptly told them that the 30-year-old midfielder was not available, despite him being open to a move.

West Brom were linked with moves for Ignacio Camacho and William Carvalho but nothing came of these, and that could be one reason why Tony Pulis decided to keep Morrison, even though he’s seemingly not in his current starting XI.

Morrison, who is currently on international duty with Scotland, was apparently open to a move to Celtic despite the fact that he recently signed a two-year contract extension at the Hawthorns.

Quite what the late move says about Brendan Rodgers’ faith in his current midfield options remains open to interpretation but it’s clear that Pulis still thinks Morrison will be needed at some stage this season.
