Five things we learnt: Celtic 0-7 Barcelona (A)

After a dispiriting, record-breaking European defeat, it is difficult to find positives for Celtic. Nonetheless, there are things to be learned and remembered from the footballing lesson that the Hoops received from Barcelona.

Still in the glow of a hugely enjoyable result on Saturday, confidence was abundant among the players and the fans. Last night offered a stern reality check.

While even the most optimistic of followers would surely not have discounted the possibility of such a comprehensive defeat, the scale and the manner of the drubbing Celtic took in the Camp Nou was a bit of a shock to the system.

We knew that the Scottish champions are a side with plenty of deficiencies; seeing them quite so brutally laid bare was still quite hard to take. Nonetheless, taking a view to the future, we can still look upon this as an opportunity for some serious self-analysis.

So, what did we learn from last night’s match?
