Rodgers considering loan spell for summer acquisition

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that he may send Kristoffer Ajer out on loan to get first-team minutes.

The Norwegian joined Celtic in the summer after signing a pre-contract agreement in February but has yet to feature for the first-team.

Celtic have started the season well, and remain undefeated domestically and with so many players to choose between, chances for Ajer have been few and far between so far.

As quoted by the Daily Record on the youngster moving on loan, Rodgers said:

I’ll consider it. There is a possibility.

I think players, like Kristoffer, would benefit from six months here to see how we work and what is expected at Celtic.

But it also comes to a point where they need game time, and it must be at the correct club where they can develop.

At the time a host of top European clubs were scouting Ajer including PSG, Liverpool, Arsenal and Roma but he turned down a number of clubs to sign for Celtic.

Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila was instrumental in the 18-year-old signing for the club and played a big role having shared the same agent with his fellow countryman.

Ajer scored twice on international duty for Norway’s under19’s including this cracking goal from centre-back.

However, his appearances for Celtic have all come for the development team and getting the balance between developing and stagnating his development is something Rodgers is used to as previous clubs.
