Confident Simunovic says it’s all about Celtic

Jozo Simunovic has stated he won’t worry about Borussia Monchengladbach because of the threat Celtic pose ahead of Wednesday’s crucial game.

After a nightmare first season at Paradise, making just 17 appearances after suffering a serious knee injury that required surgery in March, the Croatian is getting his career back on track.

The 21-year-old is still waiting to make his debut in the Champions League for Celtic, but that isn’t his concern.

As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, he said:

I just think about our team and the Celtic fans.

What I can say is that we are not afraid of anybody, especially at home. We believe in ourselves and we can’t wait for the start of the match. We are very positive about Wednesday.

I can’t wait. I don’t know whether I will play or not, but it’s about the team. No matter who the manager picks, I know they will give their all.

We pressed high against Man City and we will try to do that again. We need to believe in how we play. I am very confident about the game against Borussia.

Simunovic will be looking for his first taste of action in the Champions League for Celtic on Wednesday against Monchengladbach, and could be called upon if Rodgers matches the Germans 3-4-3 formation or Mikael Lustig remains out with a knee injury.

If not, Simunovic, despite his impressive performances this season, he has been the third choice in big games – which is no disrespect to the youngster – due to the pairing of veteran Kolo Toure and Erik Sviatchenko.
