Brendan Rodgers has revealed why he left Scott Brown out of the match squad completely last night.
Celtic won 4-0 in the end last night, but Ross County did have chances in the game to score before Stuart Armstrong, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele fired home in the last 10 minutes.
The skipper was left out of the squad after Sunday’s win along with Kieran Tierney, Jozo Simunovic, James Forrest and Tom Rogic who were all rested.
As quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times, Rodgers joked:
He is getting together his wee five-a-side football team. That is three boys he’s got now.
He wanted to come. I said: ‘listen, look after your wife, family is more important than football’. It is nice for him to get a breather.
He is going to go into the game super fit and fresh and strong and now a father of three. They are all feeling good. He breathes football Scotty so I am sure he will be looking forward to it.
Some of Celtic’s best performances this season have come from Brown’s dominance in midfield, and after putting his injury woes of last season behind him and retiring from international football, the 31-year-old has looked better than ever in a Hoops jersey.
Rodgers also confirmed that he will return for Saturday’s game against Aberdeen and Celtic could be as many as 10 points clear with a game in hand before Tuesday night’s crucial Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach.
