Brown set for shock return to international football

Scott Brown is set for a sensational return international football after an impressive start to the season at Celtic.

The 31-year-old retied from international football after suffering from a series of injuries last season in an attempt prolong his club career with the champions.

However, according to the Daily Record, Brown is set for a return to the international stage and could play at Wembley next month in a crucial game against England.

One source close to Brown said:

This has come out of the blue over the last few days but both Gordon and Scott are really excited by the prospect of working with one another again.

If Gordon wants him at Wembley, he’ll be there.

Brown is Scotland’s most decorated midfielder right now and the only central midfielder playing in the Champions League, and has led the team to a 12 game unbeaten domestic run this season.

He and Gordon Strachan have reportedly kept in close contact and following the birth of his third child, Brown could be called up to Scotland’s squad after talks reached an advanced stage over his return.

Robert Snodgrass is already out of the game after suffering ankle ligament damage in a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Stoke City while previous options such as James Morrison and Charlie Mulgrew aren’t playing regular first-team football.

Strachan will name his squad and will be looking for Scotland to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to Slovakia earlier this month.
