Tom Rogic’s terrific start to the season under Brendan Rodgers proves why the Aussie has become such an important figure in the Hoops starting team. Rogic, who has lit up the Scottish Premiership and the European stage this season, has been the creative focal point and has chipped in with the eight goals as well.
Rogic, who at one stage during his Celtic career seemed to be heading out the door, was offered a lifeline last season under then manager Ronny Deila and has proven to everyone why he is the best number 10 at Celtic.
So what makes the creative midfielder so effective during matches?
His direct running along with his unpredictability makes it hard for anyone to mark him. Rogic, is the type of player who would be able to find space in the most crowded situation. However, it’s not just his directness which is impressive, but his body feints and check backs which trouble the opposition.

For example, in the game against Manchester City, he was unplayable until he tired out and was subbed off. For the second goal in particular that night, the City midfield and backline were in such disarray on how to cope with him because of the early threat from him, that it allowed Rogic to have the freedom of Celtic Park, slip in the ball to Kieran Tierney for the goal.
It’s not just Manchester City who have had trouble against Rogic. If you look at previous games against, Aberdeen, Rangers and the home tie against Hapeol Be’er Sheva, you can see the amount of problems Rogic causes in the creative hole.

Assisting or creating chances has never been a problem for Rogic, but one aspect which he has improved on is his lethal finishing. What’s very noticeable though is that he rarely scores a tap in but instead provides a spectacular finish.

One area which Rogic has to improve on is his fitness and stamina. In those 19 matches he has played this season, he has only completed a full 90 minutes on four occasions. If he were to improve that and get himself even fitter and stronger, then there is no reason why he can’t become the hottest prospect in Scottish football.
