Celtic winger Scott Sinclair says it would be “massive” if former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard decided to join the club.
The 36-year-old is leaving the LA Galaxy after two seasons and is heading back to these shores.
He’s reportedly told friends and family members that he wants to continue playing but he won’t play in the Premier League out of respect for Liverpool.
Therefore, he’ll either need to play in the Championship or in Scotland and with the links to Brendan Rodgers, there is talk that he might make a move to the reigning Scottish champions.
When asked by Richard Wilson of the BBC about the impact of Gerrard’s signing would be, Sinclair said:
It would be massive if he did come here. The fans would take to him.
Despite his advanced age, Sinclair still thinks Gerrard is a top player and that bringing him in would not only make the team better now, but it would also allow the club’s younger players to learn from one of the best midfield players of a generation.
He’s a world-class player, so I’m sure a lot of players here would learn off him. Once we’re in the Champions League and playing the likes of Barcelona and Man City, it attracts more players.
