Former Celtic striker Miku doesn’t think the current Barcelona side are any better than the side Neil Lennon’s men defeated 2-1 at Paradise in 2012.
The Venezuelan forward joined the Hoops on loan in the August of 2012, and started in the memorable win over the Catalan giants in place of the injured Gary Hooper.
Though his impact on the team overall was minimal, netting just two goals in his short stint, he played his part in the win over Barcelona four years ago.
And despite that devastating front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, Miku doesn’t think this Barca side are any better than then manager Tito Vilanova’s was four years ago.
As quoted by the Herald Scotland, Miku said:
That team in 2012 had David Villa, the all-time top scorer in the Spanish national team and Xavi, maybe Barcelona’s best-ever player ever.
Now they are a different team: Neymar is very fast and unbelievable one on one, and Suarez is an unbelievable striker but I don’t think they are better. Or worse. They are just different. Two great teams.
He also spoke of Celtic’s chances of winning the much, adding:
It is very hard to predict but if Celtic can do everything in defence then I think at Celtic Park they can score one goal and win the game
Maybe particularly if Dembele is good. But the main thing is that everyone has to sacrifice, be willing to run and clear about what they are trying to do.
Luis Enrique’s current Barca side travel to Glasgow for the game this Wednesday and will be confident after thrashing Rodgers’ side 7-0 in the Nou Camp in the opening match of this year’s Champions League.
Celtic host the Catalan giants in their fifth match in this year’s Champions League group stage, with Rodgers’ team needing a win if they are to have any hopes of securing European football after Christmas.
