Hibernian are interested in taking Kris Commons on loan from in January having struggled to make an impact at Celtic this season.
Brendan Rodgers’ arrival has seen him slip down the pecking order and the move to the Championship side would see him link up with former boss Neil Lennon.
A deal would need to be made between both clubs as the 33-year-old is one of the highest earners at Celtic – on around £20,00 a week – to allow the midfielder to move to the Edinburgh based side.
As quoted by the Scotsman speaking back in October about Commons, Rodgers said:
I’ve brought in players who play in a slightly different way to how he’s played before. There’s no doubting his qualities and what he’s shown over two, three, four years. But it’s a different team playing in a different way.
Rodgers high-pressing style of play was never a strength of Commons’ who operated in a much different system under Lennon when he first signed for the club in 2011.
Commons was hoping to make a return to first-team action in July against Barcelona, but that never materialised and looks set to leave the club in the summer when his contract expires.
Under Ronny Deila Commons saw his game time become more limited, but still showed flashes of brilliance when given the opportunity.
