Leigh Griffiths helped Celtic maintain their domestic unbeaten status after defeating Hamilton 1-0 in front of a home crowd last night.
An unselfish pass by Moussa Dembele played Griffiths in for his 11th goal of the season moving The Hoops 11 clear with two games in hand.
The win means that Brendan Rodgers has officially made the best domestic start as Celtic manager in the club’s history, winning eighteen of his nineteen domestic games.
Celtic were dominant throughout but just couldn’t find the net in the second half despite some nice play from Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong.
It was a rare occasion when it was announced that Griffiths and Dembele would start up top together, just the second time they’ve done so this season, and even after the match fans were split as to whether or not it’s something that should be done more regularly
Here are our player ratings from the game.
Craig Gordon 6/10
Had a quiet game. Did well when called upon and was relatively calm when put under pressure.
Mikael Lustig 6.5/10
Got forward to help in attack and linked-up well with Roberts down the right hand-side. Great defensive tackle late on to put off Brophy.
Erik Sviatchenko 6.5/10
Was a steady figure in defence once again. Gave away a sloppy pass on the left wing that almost lead to a goal.
Jozo Simunovic 6.5/10
Had a decent game after being rested for Friday night’s clash with Thistle. Was willing to get forward frequently in the second half.
Scott Brown 6.5/10
Won possession back and moved the ball well but was quiet at times. Was a confident presence in midfield once again.
Patrick Roberts 6.5/10
Wasn’t afraid to take players on like always. Was skillful when carrying the ball forward and got crosses into the box to put Hamilton under pressure.
Stuart Armstrong 6.5/10
Wasn’t his best performance but was still energetic and lively when others seemed to slow down. Helped out wide and pressed the opposition frequently.
Tom Rogic 7/10
Looked lively throughout but lost possession a couple of times. Made some key passes that could’ve turned into assists.
Callum McGregor 5.5/10
Quiet for most of the game. Didn’t have any real impact on how things worked out. Subbed off on the 58th minute.
Leigh Griffiths 7.5/10
Scored the only goal of the game. Was active for the majority of the match and could’ve scored more than one on another day. Did well in adapting to the game-plan.
Moussa Dembele 6/10
Was unselfish and assisted Griffiths for the goal but was quiet overall. Wasted a few chances after some good teamwork.
Gary Mackay-Steven 5.5/10
Came on with half an hour to play. Got in and about things but didn’t have a standout moment.
Nir Bitton N/A
Came on for Dembele with seven minutes to play to control the pace of the game.
