Rodgers praises outstanding Celtic after Ibrox comeback

Brendan Rodgers praised the performance of his Celtic team after they came back from a goal down to defeat Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox earlier today.

Scott Sinclair got the decisive goal as he and Celtic’s other goal scorer, moussa Dembele hit the woodwork in the game.

Kenny Miller put the home side one up before Dembele levelled the scoring with this superb strike.

Rodgers knew he had to shake things up to become the dominant side, and he did just that as the Hoops showed a fine second half display.

Speaking to the media after the win, Rodgers said:

It was a brilliant result for us and a great advert for Scottish football.

First half we didn’t start so well but we adjusted a few things at half-time and I thought we thoroughly deserved the win. We stayed very calm being 1-0 down and it was outstanding second-half performance from us.

I thanked the players before the game on behalf of myself and the supporters for how they’ve been performing over the past six months.

Scott Sinclair netted his eleventh league goal of the season with twenty minutes to go after a nice move that saw Stuart Armstrong grab the assist.

The win means Celtic extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to a resounding nineteen points, the most ever going into the New Year and still have a game in hand.

Rodgers’ side now have a three week rest until they’re back in action against Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
