After seeing his transfer to Espanyol fall through in the summer, Nir Bitton is back on the radar of the La Liga club, according to the Express.
Espanyol thought they had done enough to sign the Israeli midfielder back in the summer transfer window, but fears over the player’s excessive wage demands and a transfer fee in the region of £10m was deemed too expensive for the club to match.
Manager Quique Flores and club sporting director Jordi Lardin are both fans of the 25-year-old and are eager to get a deal done during the January window – if Celtic are willing to bring down their asking price.
Fulham have been linked with a £2m move for Bitton, but Brendan Rodgers would be holding out for much more than that to sell a member of his squad.
Bitton has scored once in 24 appearances across all competitions thus far this season. However, he has made just six SPL starts and Rodgers could choose to offload him to finance further moves this month.
Efe Ambrose and Dedryck Boyata could also be offloaded to fund transfers.
