Multiple clubs approach Ambrose over transfer

Celtic central defender Efe Ambrose has been targeted by a number of clubs as he enters the final six months of his contract.

Sky Sports have reported that the Nigerian centre-back is the subject of interest from Ligue 1 outfit Bastia, who are currently in the middle of a relegation battle and will be looking to strengthen their defensive unit.

A number of Chinese clubs have also offered the 28-year-old a way out of Celtic, having not played for the club since a friendly in Dublin against Barcelona last July.

His last competitive appearance came against Astana in the Champions League qualifiers, and has been frozen out of the first-team by Brendan Rodgers.

The report claims that the Nigerian likely to leave the club in this month’s transfer window as he seeks first-team football elsewhere, but it now looks as though Bastia have stolen a march in the chase for Ambrose’s services off the back of a two-year deal offered to him.

Ambrose has been with Celtic since 2012 and has been a regular feature in the squad throughout the years, but it now seems inevitable that his time at Parkhead is coming to an end.
