Allan given fresh opportunity by Rotherham boss on loan

Scott Allan was given a rare opportunity for Rotherham last Saturday after coming on with 15 minutes to play in his side’s 4-0 away loss to Newcastle United.

The midfielder was loaned out to the English Championship side at the start of the season but has failed to make a name for himself down south.

Though caretaker manager Paul Warne is willing to give Allan, who had not played since October, a chance to gain a place in the team.

Warne was quoted by The Star and spoke of Allan’s performance at the weekend against Newcastle in a 4-0 defeat.

He said:

I thought he was good. In training, he had been the most exciting player. He has the confidence and know-how to get on the ball.

He was really positive when he came on so he’s in my plans for Barnsley.
I told him afterwards that he did well, but he needs to know the other side of the game as well.

I am not criticising him for that. He has had a different upbringing to what I have had. But he needs to learn the other side.

The 25-year-old centre midfielder is set to return to Celtic at the end of the season, though, it’s unlikely that manager Brendan Rodgers will plan to include him in his squad.

Rodgers looks set to offload several players before the January transfer window deadline arrives and add more if possible.

New signing Kouassi Eboue is yet to feature after his work permit was granted, but  is unlikely to be included in the squad for Wednesday’s game against St. Johnstone.
