Craig Gordon has been in impressive form for Celtic this season and it’s not gone unnoticed south of the border.
According to the Telegraph, Gordon is a surprise name on a three-man shortlist Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has drawn up as potential replacements for Asmir Begovic.
The Bosnian ‘keeper was the subject of a £10m bid from Bournemouth earlier this month, an offer Chelsea turned down but Begovic has made it clear he would like to leave the club to play first-team football having spent the last 18 months rooted as the Blues’ No.2 behind Thibaut Courtois.
Gordon is among those being considered by Chelsea due to his experience playing in the Premier League with Sunderland earlier in his career.
The 34-year-old was plagued by serious knee injuries at Sunderland which prompted him to take time out of the game after leaving the Stadium of Light to get his body back to full strength,
After two years out of football, Gordon signed for Celtic in July 2014 and hasn’t looked back since. Under contract until 2018 and currently settled as the club’s first-choice, it would be a tough ask for Chelsea to persuade Brendan Rodgers to let Gordon leave.
The report claims that Chelsea could offer Celtic the opportunity to take players on loan for the rest of the season, with Rodgers, a former Chelsea coach, particularly keen on striker Dominic Solanke, midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and defender Ola Aina.
