Dedryck Boyata’s headed goal put Celtic 22 points clear at the top of the table equalling the Lisbon Lions’ 26 domestic game unbeaten record.
Celtic played some good football in the first-half but couldn’t find the opening goal in what was Scott Brown’s 400th appearance for the club.
Boyata was handed his second consecutive start and came close to opening the scoring on 23 minutes with a header that was cleared off the line.
Stuart Armstrong tested the ‘keeper twice including a curling effort into the top left corner which was only kept out by the finger tips of ‘keeper Zander Clark.
Despite their dominance in the game, the home side almost went behind from Danny Swanson’s volley which cannoned back off the post.
Top goal scorer Moussa Dembele struggled on the night, firing a number of efforts wide or over the crossbar.
Patrick Roberts had two assists at the weekend and almost made an instant impact off the bench.
The winger beat two players and fed Dembele who failed to get a clean connection as did Scott Sinclair.
Belgian defender Boyata scored his first goal of the season after 72 minutes.
