Rodgers hints at Onyekuru signing

Brendan Rodgers has hinted at the possibility of signing Celtic target Henry Onyekuru before the transfer window shuts next week.

Onyekuru has been trying to move for his current club Eupen, after a agreement he could if a suitable offer was made – and accused them of trying to sell him to CSKA Moscow against his wishes.

Celtic have already made a bid, which was rejected by the club as it was below their valuation, but that hasn’t stopped their pursuit of the highly rated goalscorer.

As quoted by the Herald Scotland about the 19-year-old Rodgers said:

We will just see what happens. He is a fantastic player with big attributes, but we will see how it develops over the next few days.

Such comments are likely to draw speculation over Celtic and Rodgers’ interest in the player, who admitted yesterday he is interested in joining Celtic and that a suitable offer was made.

Rodgers did previously admit he was on the look out for talented, young and vibrant African players to help improve his squad further to compete in the Champions League, having already signed defensive midfielder, Eboue Kouassi.

The Hoops are in action again on Sunday against Hearts, with kick-off at 1pm.

Craig Gordon, who was subject to a bid from Chelsea, will start against his former club according to Rodgers and is handling the situation professionally.
