Chelsea prepare Scottish record bid for Dembele

Chelsea are considering a Scottish record bid in an attempt to sign Celtic star striker Moussa Dembele south of the border.

He is currently on his way to see a knee specialist in London, following an injury he sustained in last week’s game against St Johnstone.

The Frenchman has been in clinical form this season, scoring 20 goals including five in the Champions League qualification and group stages.

Antonio Conte is unhappy with his back up strikers to the Premier League joint-top scorer Diego Costa, and wants the 20-year-old to be his understudy at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League are reportedly weighing up a bid in the region of £30 million according to the Guardian, while a French journalist working for SFR says a bid of £34 million has already been submitted and rejected.

If the Blues are unsuccessful in their approach for Dembele today, it is thought they will rekindle their interest this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has already rebuked two bids from the London-based side for shot stopper Craig Gordon, saying repeatedly that he is not for sale.

Now they have turned their attention to the other end of the field to push on for a league and Cup double.

Both Dembele and his agent are happy for him to remain at Celtic beyond this window, and will carefully plan his future.
