Port Vale caretaker manager Michael Brown spoke highly of Leo Fasan just days after the goalkeeper competed his six-month loan move from Celtic.
Fasan could make his debut for the Valiants, who are at home to Peterborough on Saturday with kick-off at 3pm.
Speaking about the clubs move for Fasan, the Vale manager said:
[The deal was done] three days before, it was no last ditch effort and he was always coming.
We appreciate Celtic giving us such a good young goalkeeper.
I’m sure he’ll be looking to start on Saturday but we’ll just have to see how he trains.
Fasan has been in the Celtic ranks since 2010 after joining from Udinese, but has been behind ‘keepers such as Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon during his time in Glasgow.
Vale are currently just six points above the relegation zone in League One with a game in hand, and Fasan will likely be tested regularly between the posts should be break intot he starting line-up.
His future is in doubt at Celtic as his contract is up in the summer, and could be looking for a new club having yet to make his competitive debut for the first-team.
Brendan Rodgers gave Fasan game time against Inter Milan and Barcelona in pre-season, but brought in a ‘keeper of his own in Dorus De Vries and fell further down the pecking order following the return of Logan Bailly from an ankle injury earlier this season.
