Player ratings: Celtic 5-2 St Johnstone (A)

A hat-trick from Moussa Demebele extended Celtic’s lead to 27 points at the top of the table in  thrilling encounter at McDiarmid Park.

Liam Henderson gave Celtic the lead with a cool finish after just six minutes as St Johnstone failed to clear their lines.

Zander Clark saved from Gary Mackay-Steven and Patrick Roberts moments later, but couldn’t stop Henderson’s curled effort into the left corner.

St Johnstone made the Hoops pay with two goals from crosses in 12 minutes.

The first came from a corner as Keith Watson rose above Nir Bitton and saw his header on goal flicked on by Scott Brown and into the net.

On the 43rd minute St Johnstone to the lead after Dedryck Boyata turned the ball into his own net from Danny Swanson’s cross.

Moussa Dembele levelled the scoring on the hour mark with his first touch after a really poor decision to award the penalty from Craig Thomson.

The 20-year-old scored twice more either side of Sinclair’s goal.
