Tom Rogic will miss at least two months of action with an ankle injury that required an operation.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed the news in the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Cup clash with Inverness.
As quoted by Celtic’s official website, he said:
It’s a big disappointment as he’s a player I was looking forward to seeing back playing with the team, but he’ll be back for the end of the season.
The disappointment is that he’ll miss up to eight weeks. It’s unfortunate as it came at the end of training at the same spot he had it before. His foot stuck in the ground and he did a full twist on it.
It was either to go through the same procedure as before or an operation. So he went to London and had an operation and he’s on his way recovering now.
The Aussie midfielder has been out injured for the past seven weeks following a challenge by Darren O’Dea in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Dundee.
Rogic was forced to come off as a result of the challenge and despite returning to training last week, it seems he won’t be returning to action any time soon.
A photo emerged online which showed Rogic in crutches with his right foot heavily wrapped going through Heathrow airport on his return to Glasgow earlier this week.

The 24-year-old has been in stellar form this season – scoring 10 goals and providing five assists – including winning goals against Motherwell and Aberdeen this season.
In the number 10 role he thrived under Ronny Deila last season after finally breaking into the first team, but the 24-year-old has gone a step further under his new boss Rodgers.
Celtic are in action again on Saturday against Inverness in the Scottish Cup.
