Brendan Rodgers insisted he is only beginning his reign at Celtic after guiding them to his first league title and sealing a sixth consecutive league title for the club.
The Hoops thrashed Hearts 5-0 at Tynecastle on Sunday, with Scott Sinclair showcasing his talent after bagging a superb hat-trick.
After the resounding win, manager Brendan Rodgers spoke of his time at the club since since his appointment last May, as well as giving an insight into how he’s felt both personally and professionally.
As quoted by The Scotsman, he said:
I am very content. I’ve only started in management, really. I’ve had five jobs, so I’m thinking at some point I need to just stay calm.
I’ve already worked in the [English] Premier League and I cannot think of a better place for me to be at this stage of my life than Glasgow Celtic.
I’m very comfortable here and sometimes you have to be careful. You have to really
appreciate what you have and I am a bit older and more mature. In the management game, I feel very, very happy here.
There is not a place I could be in this world right now where I’d be happier in my football life and personal life.
When my time is up, hopefully I will have left a legacy here that they can smile about and have enjoyed and then it’ll be over to the next one. Until that moment comes, which hopefully won’t be for a while, I’m very content.
A neat finish from Stuart Armstrong and a superb curled shot from Patrick Roberts piled on the misery for Hearts, who suffered their worst home defeat in 44 years.
Celtic have officially won their sixth consecutive league title with eight games to spare, and have done so while avoiding defeat in any of their 37 domestic games.
Throughout Rodgers’ debut season in the Scottish Premiership, his side broke a 50-year-old record set by the Lisbon Lions after going 27 domestic games without defeat, and won the League Cup after demolishing Aberdeen 3-0 in the final.
The Irishman has the chance to be just the third manager in Celtic’s history to complete a domestic treble, as the Hoops prepare to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final later this month.
