Stuart Armstrong has laughed off comments made by English comedian and US talk show host James Corden, who recently tweeted saying he’d like to see the Scottish international sign for West Ham United.
The 25-year-old recently won Player of the Month award for March after a successful run of form that saw him score three goals in four games.
He enters the final year of his current contract in the summer, leaving many to wonder when he will sign a new deal.
As quoted by the Evening Times, Armstrong said:
Someone sent me it, yeah. It’s just something you have got to laugh at, a bit of humour. It’s always nice to see these things. There was a little bit of humour from the boys about it.
I tend to focus on being here and being a Celtic player, which I am. As I said before, I am really happy and in a really fantastic place. I love playing week in, week out in my favourite position for a club like Celtic – and playing under Brendan Rodgers as well. I couldn’t be happier.
One of the attractions of coming to Celtic was the European experiences Playing in the Champions League this season was a dream come true, playing against the giants of Europe.
The prospect of playing in that again is amazing. It’s something every player looks forward to because it is very special. I think what the manager is building here is a real, good quality team. You have seen the step up we have made already in only his first season.
A superb campaign so far under Rodgers has led to Armstrong being in the form of his life scoring 13 gols and providing seven assists for The Hoops.
As well as performing well for his club, he was granted his first ever cap for Scotland and put in a man of the match display in their 1-0 win over Slovenia at Hampden.
Armstrong will be back in action on Saturday for Celtic at home to Kilmarnock. Kick-off is at 3pm.
