Rodgers aiming for two ‘quality’ summer signings

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is aiming to sign two ‘quality’ players in the summer transfer window.

Despite the Hoops having already won the Scottish Premier League, Rodgers is looking to improve his squad in the summer to compete in Europe.

Celtic are unbeaten in the league this season and have 91 points – 24 points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen.

So strengthening their side for the league is of no concern to Rodgers, who knows his players are capable of winning the division comfortably.

However, Celtic still need to improve if they are to make any impact on the European scene.

Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage, finishing bottom of their group, which boasted Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Speaking to TalkSport, and as reported by the BBC, Rodgers said:

We don’t need many but if we can bring in a couple of players of quality, we want to make a mark on Europe next season. That would be progress for us and just keep the momentum going with the club.

Rodgers has already received acclaim for his work with Celtic transfer so far, after he signed Moussa Dembele on a free transfer from Fulham.

Dembele has scored 30 goals in 35 starts for the Scottish champions this term, including three in the Champions League.
