Roberts will remain at Celtic for Scottish Cup final

Patrick Roberts will be available for Celtic to play in the Scottish Cup final after an agreement between the club and English FA.

Roberts will miss England’s Under-20 World Cup finals in South Korea as a result which get underway on May 20th, and will have the chance to secure a domestic treble at just 20 years of age.

Celtic weren’t obliged by the English FA to release Roberts, who will already have completed the group stages of the competition before the May 27th final against Aberdeen.

As quoted by Celtic’s official website, he said:

I have enjoyed my time with Celtic immensely and from day one at the Club it has felt like home. It is a special place and it has been a privilege to be part of the success we have enjoyed.

We have had a brilliant season so far and in such a special year for the Club I want to be part of everything here. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and now I will focus on continuing to do all I can for Celtic.

The decision was out of Roberts’ hands, but now it has been resolved he can focus on the remainder of the season before returning to Manchester City.

Roberts has been in fine form since the turn of the year, and has 13 goals and 19 assists in 55 appearances since he joined the Hoops on an 18-month loan deal.

Celtic are in action at 3pm tomorrow against St Johnstone in their penultimate home game of the season.
