Player ratings: Celtic 4-1 St Johnstone (H)

Patrick Roberts scored a brace as a youthful Celtic side coasted to a 4-1 win in their penultimate home game of the season.

Tom Rogic made just his second start of 2017 having recovered from ankle surgery, and had a number of chances in the first half to give the hosts the lead.

Roberts, who committed to Celtic for the remainder of the season rather than join England’s U20’s squad in South Korea later this month, opened the scoring on 47 minutes with a composed left footed shot.

Debutant Michael Johnston was involved in the build up to the goal, but just two minutes later St Johnstone were level through Steven MacLean.

Within 15 minutes Celtic had a two goal advantage as Dedryck Boyata headed in Leigh Griffiths’ cross, and Roberts scored again for his ninth of the season.

Callum McGregor scored a stunning solo goal moments after coming off the bench as the Hoops 30 moved points clear of Aberdeen who face Hearts on Sunday.
