Roberts jokes about Armstrong’s huddle speech

Patrick Roberts humorously taunted Stuart Armstrong after the 25-year-old captained the Hoops in their 4-1 win over St. Johnstone at Celtic Park yesterday.

Scott Brown was suspended for the game after going over the disciplinary points threshold, meaning Armstrong was given the captain’s armband to wear for the second time this season.

And Roberts, when asked what his team-mates huddle speech was like, answered in humorous fashion.

As quoted by The Scotsman, he said:

It was all right. He’s a little posh boy, so it was quite posh. Nah, it was good. It was a good speech.

Obviously it wasn’t Broony, but all the boys out there are leaders and we got the performance.

There were a few more big words that I couldn’t understand. But the main thing was to win the game.

A brace from Roberts, who is set to leave the champions later this month when his loan expires, as well as goals from Dedryck Boyata and Callum McGregor ensured that the Hoops’ domestic unbeaten run would extend to 43 games.

Youth academy prospects Anthony Ralston and Michael Johnston started in yesterday’s win, and impressed in front of the home crowd.

Brendan Rodgers’ side now face a trip to Pittodrie this Friday night to take on second-place Aberdeen.

The last time they faced Derek McInnes’ side up North they won 1-0 thanks to Tom Rogic’s superb effort.
