Celtic appear to be closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke, according to the Daily Record.

Solanke is edging towards a Stamford Bridge exit after rejecting a new contract with the Premier League leaders.

The young Englishman has been able to discuss moves away from the Premier League since January and Celtic appear to have won the race to sign him.

Fiorentina and RB Leipzig were interested in the player, whilst Liverpool were also credited with an interest in the past.

In a similar deal to the one that saw Moussa Dembele join from Fulham, Solanke will be able to join Celtic for a fraction of the fee that English clubs would have had to pay in compensation for the young striker.

Chelsea could have earned nearly £8 million for the striker from any Premier League club that wanted to sign Solanke, but Celtic could pay just £400,000 for his signature.
