Kieran Tierney’s breakthrough into the Celtic first-team has been one of the club’s greatest success stories in recent history.
The teenage left-back is considered as one of the brightest young prospects in not only Scottish football but European football and has been linked with moves to the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent weeks and months.
Reports have claimed that Celtic have slapped a £17m price-tag on the 19-year-old but Brendan Rodgers and everyone involved at Celtic will do all they can to make sure their most promising young player remains at the club beyond this summer and hopefully, for the long-term.
Speaking about the transfer rumours surrounding him, Tierney says he’s just trying not to think about them:
It’s flattering. I don’t bother about it too much. My pals text me but I think it would play more in your head if you weren’t happy at a club. I’m really happy at Celtic, which is good.
Tierney goes on to relatively dismiss the speculation, insisting he’s happy at Celtic and concentrating on the task at hand.
I’ve seen the screenshots but it is just a story and I’m just concentrating on Celtic.
Given the success of Celtic’s season, clubs will be circling to prise Tierney, Moussa Dembele and perhaps a couple other players away from the club. Given the increased Champions League revenue and the project in place under Rodgers, that task becomes incredibly more difficult than it has been in recent years.
