Celtic looking to continue their successful form on Friday nights

Celtic play their third Friday night match of the season this week. The other two games were away to Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle; six points were accumulated.

Rodgers’ men make the 146 mile trip to the home of their tightest competitors, Aberdeen. The Dons are still a long way off the Bhoys though; they sit 27 points behind in the league table.

The match is still significant. Aberdeen are the only team that can stop Celtic’s treble, and this game is the perfect warm-up for the Hampden spectacle.

Celtic met Aberdeen at Hampden in November. The result was 3-0 in the League Cup final; it was Rodgers’ first trophy as Hoops manager.

It may not be the Glasgow derby, but the teams are still rivals and it would be unacceptable for Celtic to slack off here. A repeat of Ronny Deila’s last appearance at the Pittodrie, would be a bitter end to the league season.

The Bhoys can create even more history over the course of the last three matches. If they rack up seven more points and 10 goals, the total points and goals scored record in a season, which was also set by Celtic, will be broken.

The Celtic support cannot wait for next season already, with the prospect of an exciting European campaign. Although, it is crucial that the Parkhead side concludes this spectacular season on a high, with three Scottish Premiership victories and a treble.
