Rogic ready to face Aberdeen if called upon

Tom Rogic is ready to perform against Aberdeen at Pittodrie once again this season if Brendan Rodgers decides to start the attacking midfielder.

The Australian international has had a run of games after recovering from his ankle injury, which he suffered in December.

Prior to the injury, the midfielder had scored 10 goals in 20 games and was touted to be among the players vying for the Player of the Year award.

Rogic is looking to recover this halted form, and has scored against Aberdeen three times in three different games this season, and sees this match as the perfect opportunity to kick start his return to action.

Speaking to the media, Rogic said:

I feel great right now. I don’t feel that there are any problems because I feel good and I feel fit. I’m looking forward to an exciting period with the club.

I’ve scored a few against Aberdeen this season, but it doesn’t count for much ahead of these last few games. It’s in the past and now it’s time to look forward. It’s nice to know I can do it but tomorrow is a new game and we’ll see what happens.

Aberdeen have had a fantastic season. They’re a good side and over the last few years they’ve been our biggest competition. We know the match is going to be difficult, it always is, especially as it’s away from home but we’ll make sure we’re ready.

We’re playing them in the cup final obviously, but regardless of how tomorrow goes it won’t mean much in terms of the Scottish Cup. That’s a one-off match, it’s high pressured and anything can happen on the day, so I don’t think you can look too much into it either way.

We go into every game wanting to win and that’s not going to change. It’s not so much about focusing on the unbeaten run, but more it’s more about looking at things one game at a time. We have big games between now and the cup final, so we just focus on the next one.

The 24-year-old has tough competition for a starting place tomorrow night. The strength and depth that Celtic contain in their midfield is great, which provides Rogic with even more incentive to impress.

The Scottish Cup final is coming up, as well as Champions League qualifiers.  It is crucial to each player that they do not lose the fire in their bellies in order to keep their place in the team.
