Petrov and Larsson hail inVIncible Celtic side

Celtic legends Henrik Larsson and Stilyan Petrov have both praised the current Hoops side after their remarkable unbeaten run and treble win.

Following on from the celebrations on Saturday, where a dramatic last minute winner sealed a coveted treble win, Larsson, Lubo Moravcik, Petrov and other legends took part in a charity match set-up by the Celtic FC Foundation.

Larsson’s side, who were given the name “Henrik’s Heroes”, defeated “Lubo’s Legends” 5-2, with the Swedish great sealing a first-half hat-trick.

Petrov, who won the treble under Martin O’Neill in 2001, was quoted by Sky Sports and gave his thoughts on the terrific feat accomplished by Brendan Rodgers’ men.

He said:

To win a treble, it is something amazing. That means you need to be consistent from day one. They have been consistent and you can’t ignore that.

You need to appreciate it. It is their achievement and it will be respected for years to come.

Larsson ,who topped the goalscoring charts when O’Neill’s side secured that treble 16 years ago, made his thoughts clear when asked to compare the current Celtic side with O’Neill’s treble-winners:

It is not fair to compare different eras.

Football is always continually developing and so it is hard to compare different teams. I don’t think you should do it.

Be happy with what they have been winning this season and how they have been winning this season.

That is what we should cherish.

The squad will be allowed some breathing space now after their incredible efforts during this historical season.

Qualifiers for the Champions League begin in July, which gives Rodgers time to take care of any transfer business.
