Newly promoted Sheffield United are targeting a move for Celtic’s Gary Mackay-Steven to be their first signing of the summer.
Chris Wilder is hoping to boost his squad for the upcoming Championship squad, however, the Blades boss says he won’t guarantee first team football to the Scottish winger.
Brendan Rodgers could allow the winger to leave Parkhead after not playing him regularly this season as he plays in the same position as fans’ favourite Scott Sinclair.
Wilder, however, fears the Bramall Lane club could be forced out of the deal because of the price that the Celts are demanding.
Mackey-Steven has two years left on his current Celtic contract and having played in the Champions League, he could cost a hefty sum.
According to the Daily Record, should Wilder not want to splash the cash, Celtic will over an initial loan agreement with a view to purchase in January or next summer. However, in an additional twist, United have made it clear that they will not agree to any incoming loan deal which has appearance stipulations included in it.
