Moravcik believes Dembele is a bigger bargain than even he was

Celtic great Lubo Moravcik believes striker Moussa Dembele is a bigger bargain for the club than he was.

The skillful Slovak was brought to the Hoops in 1998 by Dr. Josef Venglos for a fee of just £300,000 and the then 33-year-old quickly made an impact on the team.

However, the attacking midfielder believes that Frenchman Moussa Dembele, who signed last summer from Fulham for just £500,000, will prove to be a bigger bargain than he was due to the healthy profit Celtic could sell him on for.

As quoted by the Evening Times, Moravcik said:

Dembele is big value because he can be sold. I hope he will stay another couple of seasons and score a lot of goals for Celtic. After that? Who knows? He will maybe get an offer from another big club in a bigger league. I have watched highlights of his goals on You Tube because he’s scored 32 goals. He has scored great goals, better than mine!

Sometimes you find a player who explodes here. I was also a good player during my career, but I didn’t play for a big club and people didn’t recognise me in football. But Dembele is much younger than me. I hope he stays for another season and scores good goals in the Champions League. I think he has been a good example for young players. He has shown them that it is a good idea to come to Celtic and play in this league. It is maybe easier to score goals here at the beginning of your career than it is in England or other bigger leagues. I think playing against good clubs at a higher level in the Champions League is maybe the best thing for him now. It will be good for him to test himself at that level.

Dembele bagged 32 goals for the historic treble winners last season before getting injured nearer the end of the campaign.

He proved to be a valuable asset in the Champions League too, netting in both the qualifiers and the group stages against Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Clubs will more than likely be keeping tabs on him now that the season has ended, though it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be wearing the green and white hoops next year.
