Griffiths wanted by Premier League duo

Celtic talisman Leigh Griffiths was made to wait for his chance this season but exploded to life in recent months which has sparked interest from the Premier League.

The Scotland international bagged 40 goals last season, but played second fiddle to star man Moussa Dembele for the majority of this season following Brendan Rodgers’ arrival.

After the 20-year-old injured his hamstring in the Scottish Cup, Griffiths took his chance for Celtic and hasn’t looked back since.

And according to the Daily Record, Newcastle United and West Brom are watching the situation unfold at Celtic Park between Celtic’s two star strikers.

Rodgers’ choice to start one striker has limited Griffiths’ chances along with niggling injuries this season, and unless the Irishman doesn’t see the striker in his plans he will more than likely remain at Celtic.

After yesterday’s heroics at Hampden Park which seen him bag two stunning free-kicks late on for his country, teams south of the border were always likely to take notice and be interested in the 26-year-old.

Griffiths failed to make an impact south of the border previously with Wolves, but having found his form again for Celtic in European competition and scoring 85 goals in 144 appearances for the Hoops.
