Celtic turn their attentions to Liverpool winger Ryan Kent

With a deal to sign Patrick Roberts from Manchester City on a permanent basis stalling, Celtic are readying contingency plans for the transfer window.

The Coventry Telegraph report that the Bhoys are interested in signing Ryan Kent on loan from Liverpool if they’re unable to secure Roberts.

Celtic are also keen on bringing in Jonny Hayes from Aberdeen but both a deal for him and Roberts are taking longer than expected to be agreed, not to mention mounting interest from south of the border in both players.

Kent impressed during a loan spell with Coventry in the 2015/16 season and was then shipped to Barnsley last season where he scored three goals and provided three assists in 47 appearances for the club.

Liverpool have a trio of talented wingers at the club – Sheyi Ojo, Harry Wilson and Kent, and they plan to loan two of them out for the 2017/18 season and Celtic are very keen on bringing Kent to the club.

Brendan Rodgers worked with the 20-year-old attacker during his time as Liverpool manager and is aware of what he could offer the Hoops.
