Callum McGregor is in talks with Celtic to sign a new long-term contract after an impressive season for the club.
The 24-year-old has two-years left on his current contract in Glasgow. However, after an impressive season Brendan Rodgers is determined to ensure that he is part of the Hoops future sources have told us.
After being in and out of the squad under Ronny Deila last season, McGregor was determined to impress the new gaffer at Parkhead.
The Scottish-man made 46 appearances for the Hoops last season. Â He scored his first goal of the season against Motherwell in a 4-3 victory in December, and went on to add six more.
His most memorable moments of the season were scoring the opening goal of the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers, and then slotting another at Ibrox a week later.
Rodgers is building a squad to achieve even greater successes than this season, and he wants McGregor to play a key role in it.
The Irishman has a great task to improve after completing an invincible season, and winning the treble.
Jock Stein and Martin O’Neill are the only other Celtic managers to achieve ultimate success in Scotland’s top three domestic competitions; they both went on to reach at least one European final.
McGregor will be part of the Celtic team for a long time it seems, as he is set to add more years to his current contract.
