Team news: Celtic v Hearts (H)

Celtic will kick start their domestic campaign against Hearts on Saturday as they begin their defence and pursuit of their seventh consecutive league title.

The Hoops ran amok of their domestic rivals last season’s, failing to lose a single game in 47 attempts and winning 43 on their way to a domestic treble.

Hearts faced Celtic in the final league game of last season at Celtic Park – losing 2-0 in what proved to be Ian Cathro’s final league game in charge of the Jambos after being sacked in midweek.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping the Hoops no hangover from Wednesday night’s hard-fought win over Rosenborg in the 12:30 kick-off on Saturday.

Erik Sviatchenko will miss around six weeks of action after he went off injured in midweek with a knee injury.

Leigh Griffiths recovered from a calf injury to play the final 25 minutes in midweek and could start his second game of the season.

Kristoffer Ajer was injured last weekend in Celtic’s friendly win over Sunderland, missing Wednesday’s game against Rosenborg but should return to the side in defence.

Cristian Gamboa has recovered from a groin injury he suffered on international duty and was on the bench on Wednesday night.

Moussa Dembele is out until September with a hamstring injury, while Dedryck Boyata remains out with a knee injury.

Jon Daly will take charge of the game for Hearts assisted by Austin McPhee and Liam Fox following the sacking of Ian Cathro.

Jamie Walker has been left out of the squad as he looks to force a move to Rangers.
