Ahead of Celtic’s League Cup tie at home to Kilmarnock, we at Read Celtic will role-play (not that kind) and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
The Hoops are out to defend the first trophy they won last season, the League Cup, with Kilmarnock facing a visit to Celtic Park in the last-16 of the competition.
Lee McCulloch’s side suffered defeat at the hands of St. Johnstone in their first game of the new season whilst Celtic strolled to a home victory over Hearts.
Should be given some game-time in a Cup game to show what he can do in front of a home crowd.
Nir Bitton
Has impressed when given the chance in the last two games. With Sviatchenko and Boyata out injured, this may be his chance to break into the team.
Jozo Simunovice
Has been solid the past few games. Lets very little by him given his traits.
Kieran Tierney
Always looks for options down the left handside. Could be a real threat to the opposition if he starts.
Olivier Ntcham
A commanding performance in Brown’s absence should see the Hoops through to the next round.
Callum McGregor
Looks to get into space and play the smart ball. Has a great first-touch hand can finish a move off very well.
Kundai Benyu
Most of his appearances have came from off the bench. Has looked mature and impressed when on the ball. Should be given the chance to show his worth on Tuesday.
James Forrest
Can use his pace to his advantage in games and can make smart runs. Could pose a threat to the Kilmarnock defence.
Leigh Griffiths
Bagged a brace at the weekend and looked lively throughout. Should start granted he’s match fit.
Scott Sinclair
Has went under the radar recently. Can always pop up with a goal or assist in a game. If on his game then he could be a dangerous threat going forward.
