Olivier Ntcham is one player who is eagerly awaiting the first Group B tie with Paris Saint-Germain, despite some fans feeling disheartened by the Champions League group stage draw.
The Hoops were drawn out and placed in Group B, which includes not just PSG, but German giants Bayern Munich as well.
Belgian champions Anderlecht will be seen as the side easiest to draw blood from, though they will be no pushovers either as Celtic look to go one better than last year by securing European football after Christmas.
Ntcham, who grew up in the southern suburbs of Paris, was a fan of the now giants of world football courtesy of their wealthy Qatari owners.
As quoted by the Telegraph, the 21-year-old spoke of his admiration for PSG, as well as giving his thoughts on the tie:
It’s a little bit special for me because when I was young I was a big fan of PSG but it’s the first time I’ll have played against their first team.
My hero was Pauleta, the striker. I loved him when he was on the pitch.
Anything can happen in football. Even if you spend £400 million on a player, every other player in the pitch has to fit around them as well.
When I was six or seven years old I didn’t play football. I only started playing when I was 10. Quite late, yes, but before that I was a breakdancer. It was between breakdancing and football.
Celtic kick-off their 2017/18 Champions League campaign at home to PSG on 12th of September, before travelling to Belgium to face Anderlecht fifteen days later.
It’ll be a tough feat to reach the knockout phase, but Rodgers, his players and the fans all know what can happen inside Celtic Park on a match day.
Before that, the Hoops will have to focus on domestic matters, and up next is at home St Johnstone on Saturday, with kick-off at 3pm.
