Player ratings: Celtic 1-1 St Johnstone (H)

Substitute Callum McGregor salvaged a point for Celtic against St Johnstone and fell to second place in the league table behind Aberdeen.

Celtic dominated possession but struggled to test the ‘keeper after getting into good positions on a number of occasions.

Leigh Griffiths, James Forrest and Scott Sinclair all had chances – the best of which fell to the latter after cutting in from the right wing and getting past four men but his tame shot was easily saved by Alan Mannus.

The away side took the lead on 39 minutes after a botched clearance by Craig Gordon was intercepted by and turned into the net by Steven MacLean from close range.

There were questions of offside from the Celtic players but youngster Anthony Ralston played the goalscorer onside.

McGregor came off the bench and drew the Hoops level on 79 minutes with a wonderfully curled effort into the bottom right corner.

Scott Sinclair crashed an effort off the crossbar with five minutes remaining but Celtic maintained their unbeaten domestic run.
