Celtic’s newest signing Odsonne Edouard has expressed his delight at signing a season-long loan deal with the Scottish champions.
The Hoops have the option to make his stay at the club permanent at the end of the 2017/18 campaign and will be hoping the youngster can hit the ground running and compete with Leigh Griffiths and soon-to-be-fit Moussa Dembele.
The 19-year-old forward spoke about his deadline day move from Paris to Glasgow and what convinced him to make the temporary switch.
As quoted by the Express, he said:
I’m very happy to be here. What attracted me to Celtic first of all was what I know about the atmosphere in the stadium, but the coach and the management team also played a part.
Brendan Rodgers met me in Paris last week and we talked a lot about football and other things.
What really influenced my decision to come to Glasgow, though, was that they came with a project built around me.
It wasn’t just about playing for Celtic – it was a project about how they intend to develop me as a player.
Edouard came though the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain and has a clinical goal-scoring record to show for it.
He holds the record for the most goals scored at the U17 European Championships – scoring eight of France’s fifteen goals across the five games.
Fans will be hoping he can deliver domestically as well as on the European front if he is given a real chance.
He will face his parent club PSG in the opening game of the Champions League group stages on 12th September.
