Mosimane: Celtic could revive Coetzee interest

For the most part, Celtic will be very happy with their transfer business in the summer but they did miss out on one of their targets, Ajax Cape Town star Rivaldo Coetzee.

A deal was agreed with the South African club for the defender to come and sign for Celtic in the summer but the player failed a medical which forced Celtic to back out of a deal for him.

The 20-year-old reportedly has an underlying problem in his right foot which was flagged up in the medical which was enough to warn Celtic off finalising the deal.

Mamelodi Sundowns later signed the South Africa international for £500,000 and their manager, Pitso Mosimane, has suggested that Celtic could come back in for the player.

Rivaldo does not have to go through an operation. When Rodgers sees the medical report again he’ll be willing to have another look at the player.

Celtic have a number of promising young talents in defence and Coetzee could be the latest added to the first-team squad if the Bhoys go back in for him down the line.
