Celtic youngster Anthony Ralston insists that he won’t lose any sleep after Neymar snubbed his handshake offer at the end of Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 18-year-old was a surprise starter as PSG hammered Celtic 5-0, but he earned the respect of the Parkhead faithful as he refused to back down to the world’s most expensive player.
The youngster and the Brazilian battled all night and although the teenager was willing to shake Neymar’s hand at the end of the game, the star striker refused, but Ralston says he’s not too bothered about that.
As reported by the Mirror, he said:
It wasn’t a big deal. I won’t dwell on that too much.If that is the case, and that is the way he wants to be, then fine. I don’t care. Like I said, everybody is different, so I won’t lose any sleep over it.
What Ralston admits he is bothered about is the scoreline as Neymar, along with Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani, put the home side to the sword but he says it was still a great experience to play in front of the Celtic Park fans in a big European game.
It was a dream to be out there. I’ve been a fan all my life and been a ball boy on these kind of nights. It was just incredible to be out there in front of those amazing fans. To experience that at the start was the best feeling in the world. Just hearing the Champions League music and the fans roaring is something I’ll never forget. I still enjoyed it. It was a bit surreal. It’s a moment you just need to take in. Moments like that you never forget. They are the reasons you play football for. You always hope to get to this level.
