As Celtic continue to prolong their extraordinary unbeaten run in domestic competitions, the praise continues to be heaped on manager Brendan Rodgers.
After leading Celtic to a historic treble last season, Rodgers has maintained that level of performance this season as the Bhoys prepare for their Champions League group stage clash with Bayern Munich.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Rodgers could once again be on the radar of one of England’s top clubs in the near future.
When asked if top clubs may target Rodgers in the future, Redknapp seemed pretty assured of himself that the former Liverpool manager would fit in at a top Premier League side.
Without a shadow of a doubt, he ticks every box. If you are a player, and I played at the top level, I’d have loved to play for someone like Brendan Rodgers.
He’s the type of guy that looks you in the eye, he’s very confident and he makes you believe in yourself. That’s what you want from any manager – and tactically he knows the game.
Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League in the 2013/14 season under Rodgers but the wheels came off for the Reds the following season and he was later sacked early in the 2015/16 season.
Redknapp believes that Rodgers is happy with life in Scotland but he has suggested that perhaps Arsenal should look at him to potentially succeed Arsene Wenger.
At the moment, I’m sure he’s happy winning trophies at Celtic and now, with Rangers back in the big league as well, it makes it a lot more interesting when they are going head to head. At the moment, Celtic are, of course, the team to beat.
If you’re Arsenal in a few years, once Arsene Wenger decides to retire, if he ever does, I’m sure he’ll be on their radar. I hope the Celtic fans don’t have a go at me for that, but he’s that good a manager.
Rodgers has received a lot of praise for his work with young and developing talent at Celtic, and Redknapp claims that his coaching and man-management skills are up there with the game’s very best.
It’s not as good as the Premier League, but I always judge a manager on whether he can improve players and I look at Celtic’s team and see a vast improvement in a lot of their players.
They’ve always had good talent there, but he takes them to the next level. The coaching and good man-management skills, he’s up there with the best.
