Rodgers adamant that Celtic should not change their approach

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is adamant that his side needn’t change their approach in the Champions League.

As reported by the Telegraph, the Celtic boss discussed the style of play he was employing against top European teams, and insisted that he would rather see his side playing attractive football and losing, than sitting back and soaking up pressure only to lose anyway.

I’d rather lose playing how we want to play and how we want to work, as opposed to sit in and defending for 90 minutes and still lose if that’s the case.

Rodgers saw his Celtic side defeated for the second time in the Champions League group stages on Wednesday night, as a rampant Bayern Munich side won 3-0. Goals from Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich and Mats Hummels were enough to help the Bundesliga champions to a comprehensive victory.

Celtic’s adventurous style of play saw Bayern create several chances throughout the match, and the scoreline could have been much worse but for some poor finishing fro the hosts.

There was nothing about being pragmatic for the goals we conceded. We didn’t defend our box well enough from crosses coming in – we can do better with those.

Despite the heavy defeat, though, Rodgers remains confident that the Celtic’s way is the best way.
