Celtic fans to collect for food banks before Kilmarnock game

Celtic fans are set to make a great week into an even better one, by following up their FIFA award for best fan display with a huge push for the support of local food banks, prior to their fixture against Kilmarnock.

According to the Daily Record, Hoops fans have invited eight different food banks from across the expansive city of Glasgow to join their initiative, which will see donations raised for those most in need of food ahead of the festive period, which is fast approaching — as is colder weather.

Celtic fans earned the second ever FIFA Fan Award as a result of their outstanding display, honouring the Lisbon Lions’ 50th anniversary on the final game of the season last term; but their efforts to help those in need when it comes to provision in food banks is even more worthy of recognition.

The Record’s report states that there will be four places near the stadium for fans to be able to donate food items, on the Celtic Way, outside the bus park, at section 111 on Janefield Street, and on the Gallowgate.

Donations of all sorts are welcome, but less-perishable items are preferred, such as coffee, tea, tinned soup, sugar and milk are foods which have been suggested for donation ahead of the drive.

Celtic face Kilmarnock on the 28th October at 3pm.
