Player ratings: Celtic 1-2 Bayern Munich (H)

Celtic’s buoyant performance at home was cancelled out by a goal 13 minutes from time from Javi Martinez.

Stuart Armstrong could have put Celtic ahead inside four minutes after making a dangerous run to the back post and was picked out by James Forrest but failed to cleanly connect with the ball and skewed his shot wide.

Kingsley Coman scored the opening goal of the night on 22 minutes after a defensive mistake from Dedryck Boyata, who failed to read the long ball from Sven Ulreich

That allowed the Frenchman to get beyond the defence and round the ‘keeper before rolling the ball into the bottom corner.

Callum McGregor levelled the scoring with 74 minutes played with a cool finish between the ‘keepers legs after a fantastic through ball from Forrest – who was sensational on the night.

However three minutes later, hopes of a memorable night were extinguished by Martinez who rose highest to head home David Alaba’s cross.
